I want to know does the total number of backlinks I get from a single domain matters in ranking? I.e I have 10 backlinks from a 10 different domains and a competitor has upto 20k backlinks from the same domain, as the competitor is ranking a lot than me, is it because of the number of backlinks as am doing every other things a lot than him, but still it's ranking a lot than me, so should I also get upto the number of that backlinks in the same domains or I should just wait as I have some more of high quality backlinks from higher domain which is still under the Google dance radar...

Please advice
Typo in title, I mean number of backlinks :D

With the latest Google update I see a lot of what you're describing.

There's one guy with a 200k indexed page website and a link to his own site on each page, same IP. Ranking #1 for it and Google doesn't give a shit.

I think it's some new flaws in the latest google update

Of course that the number of links matters, even if they come from the same domain, as long as the pages where you add your link are indexed.

They remain a search ranking factor today, but become less important every day. The search engine companies recognize backlinks can suggest quality and relevance, but know they often don’t.

Cool, I always thought it's the opposite

Interesting, does each link send more juice over? Like it's not a diluted amount of what the entire domain would pump over with just the one link?

Wierd...

Well I don't know. All I know is that old spam techniques are working again for top ranked sites. A sitewide link was an old technique, now it's working again for some.

You should go and get decent quality backlinks from whatever domain you can.

Get as much as you can even if its from the same domain as long as there decent quality.

Good luck with it :)

not sure if domain but i abuse that "one ip thing" a lot. however i also got diversity from other sources like rankerx or gsa so in general i have aaa lot of IPS etc so its good

Its like we cant ignore the fact that Google now takes this into consideration. Even I saw many clients who were bothered of the same. In fact, Number of Good Quality backlinks are like backbones of your site. So obviously, it might be one of those criteria's, google care up on.

Good, I guess I have to start building more than enough links on the same domain now, all that matters is the quality

Could be your competitor has a large pbn thats being cloaked and you just arent seeing all those extra links they have

I think so at first but later I went to him questioned him about somethings which made me know that he was never a proper seo geek
,he got the links these particular links because naturally they drive traffic to that type of site not because of backlinks, so I don't think he has the sense to go for something as far as building or buying high pbn links which are hidden for trackers

It has always worked, it all depends on the website ur getting links from.

This domain is with high metrics, upto DA50+, TF40+,CF50+, with some pages with PA30+

I think what matters more is quality and relevance. Ive also seen this happen on one of the websites that is outranking me.

It adds power to links when it comes from multiple pages that have good metrics.

If the niche is related get a sitewide backlink to biggest category, anchor as brand name, and u will fly in the serps
