For Facebook's monetization program, does the niche of what you post on your page affect how much RPM you make?
Like if your page is about personal finance or dogs vs a page about memes or daily news.

Do you get paid more making text and image posts vs reels? I know reels have better reach but do you get lower RPM?

My meme page blows up in reach but barely earns, while my travel page makes more from fewer views

And with formats, reels give reach but lower RPM, while static posts or articles can have stronger ad value. Best approach is balancing both for growth and revenue

Yes! FB makes more in let's say finance than comedy so they can share more with your finance content. Content niche always matters, unless it some new product looking to break into a market and gain some initial market-share.

I read some posts online where people are making very low RPM, like $0.10 for reels. I wonder what niches they are in, and if text and images posts pay more than reels.

Ok, so for high RPM niches like finance and health, advertisers are willing to pay more so Facebook shares more of the ad revenue with you?

Yeah, niche matters a lot. Finance or tech usually pays more than memes or general news. Reels get more views but lower RPM. Text/image posts can pay better if your audience is targeted. Best combo is a high-paying niche with content that actually gets engagement.

Yes, niche makes a big difference in RPM. Reels bring great reach but RPM tends to be lower compared to text posts. From my exp, the best approach is balancing both to grow audience while keeping ad revenue healthy.

Yeah, niches like finance get higher RPM, and Reels may have better reach but often lower RPM than regular posts.

The Finance/Investing category has a much higher RPM. Long videos pay the highest RPM, while Reels tend to have a lower RPM despite being viral.

The rule is that niche content will determine Facebook’s revenue share. So, unless you’re a new product that needs initial exposure, you have to balance your ad formats strategically: Reels give you quick reach but typically have a lower RPM, while traditional posts or articles offer higher ad value. This forces you to mix and match the two formats to achieve the dual goals of scaling and maximizing profits.

Content definitely affects RPM, as high-value topics like finance typically pay more than memes, and reels have good reach but are typically lower in RPM than image posts.

Niche and format are two factors that determine your RPM. High-value topics like Finance obviously attract higher-paying advertisers, resulting in higher RPMs than purely entertaining content like memes. Likewise, format makes a difference: while Reels offer a broad reach for audience growth, their RPMs are typically significantly lower than traditional text or image posts. So, to optimize revenue, the resulting strategy must balance using Stories to expand the module and focus on higher RPM post formats in profitable niches.
