Hello, I have a blog and I primarily focus on ranking only 5 blog posts. I do not really care about ranking the homepage itself. I therefore have 2 questions. 1. Can I get backlinks to those 5 blog posts solely neglecting the homepage? 2. Do I need to constantly post new content to the homepage or I can remain with the actual 5 posts and focus only on getting backlinks? Basically I am trying to figure out whether getting new content and backlinks to the homepage will have any direct impact on ranking those 5 posts.
1. u can but better target homepage too 2. yes, depends on ur goal google likes these who post more often so site is not considered dead
I know google likes fresh content however does it have any direct impact on ranking those blog posts?
@patlang yes. if all posts are related it has a huge impact on ranking all of them. if you choose one of these posts as your page that u try to rank, and do correct internal linking, it will boost even more. and if google likes fresh content - i didnt test it, and didnt see any case study, but probably theres some impact for sites that regullary add content
You should send backlinks to the homepage too. Like the brand/ url or niche related. No one has an answer to the first part of your second question. But I would keep sending backlinks until the pages ranked.
1. Don't neglect the home page. It can help boost the other pages if you link to all the posts. In each post, make sure there's a link back to the homepage (preferably in the content). It also helps your link look a little more "natural" because sometimes, people do just link to the domain/homepage. 2. Never really tested, but it doesn't have to be constantly. I think 1 every month or even two is fine, but I will guess that depends on how competitive your niche and keywords are.
