not if done correctly, when did you migrate?

Double check if you didn't accidentally turn on no indexing your website when you did the migration.
I made that mistake myself many times when I transfered the server ( because I didn't want the new server to rank before actually moving).

As for the question itself, no it doesn't affect ranking that drastically. You can lose or gain some ranking in because of speed difference. But that is not as extreme as actualy being dropped altogether.

I migrated 2 websites... 1 website 2 weeks ago and another website 5 days ago.
Please notice, I didn't just migrate... I also changed from http to httpS.
The result:
Website 1: there are still pages to redirect properly to https.
Website 2: Not only migrated it to another hosting company and added https, I also changed the url structure. Taking time but no drops really... actually, today I saw the same page ranking from old hosting and from the new one.

I have migrated my websites many times and I've never had a problem there. As long as your hosting is good.
Even with https redirects my traffic dived a bit but then recovered.

If there was some downtime then for sure there would be some negative effect but shouldn't be much if everything else is same.

Migrating may affect your SEO strategy. However, you can consider the following tips to perform an SEO-friendly migration in the future. You should conceptualize a plan if you want to migrate your site, and the first thing is to audit your web pages and content. Second, you should check your website's analytics to monitor your traffic. Third, you should backup your site in case there are errors during the migration. Lastly, you should map your new site by creating a sitemap for your audience.

Thanks for the answer, I will apply this one on my site.

Migrated one website, had some downtime, lost rankings for a few days. It was back up after a few days.

Migrating server results small fluctuation in the rankings.
But the rankings will retain its original position.
