Does Manual SEO work actually pay off?

Please only contribute towards this thread if you have ACTUAL experience with ranking websites. Not if you just heard somewhere that something works and whatnot.

I am really interested to know if Manual SEO is worth it. Obviously it is a much safer option, but surely for anything over Low competition this would be a very lengthy process.

I am looking to build some WEB 2.0 properties to provide backlinks to some of the pages on my website. The keywords i am looking to rank them for are pretty low competition. So i wouldnt have thought a 2nd tier would be necessary, but i am not an expert and i dont have a huge amount of experience, particularly doing manual SEO work.

So if you have any advice, or experience in doing manual SEO work, please contribute below. I am particularly interested if you think doing manual SEO work is worth it compared to the much quicker method of using tools (Senuke Xcr etc.)

It depends on what type of site its for.

I always build my Tier 1 Web 2.0 properties manually and not via tools like Senuke. I prefer to have my
Web 2.0s look natural, with images / videos and all sorts - but that is just my personal preference, and
the results have been satisfying.

Think of it like this.. How would you want your soup? Made from a can and microwaved or made from scratch?

Tier 1 is great with manual seo. Use software for everything else, I don't think it makes much of a difference.

It absolutely pays off. Especially when you make manual first tier web 2.0 baclinks and keep them alive. It works the same way with manual blog comments.

It all comes down to time vs money. If you're going to "manually" build links for low competition keywords, it sounds like even if you achieve your objective of good rankings there probably isn't a whole lot of money to be made there for the time you are investing.

Of course manual SEO works, but is it the most profitable business model for you?

That is for you to decide, and only you can answer that.

Quality tier 1 have to be built manually or by self made tools. I dont make any web 2.0s manually but i have nice bot and there is no difference between hand made web 2.0s and made by my bot. Create manually tier one, and than use tools like senuke. You can bulid small tier 1, and massive tier 2,3 and 4.

I agree with that 100%. Everyone that says Manual SEO is better than Tools, just has not had the pleasure of using tools that can do it well. And, I am not talking about SENuke, MS, UD, Ect.. If you use a browser to do it a tool can automate it. Google can't tell the difference between a Tool and Manual SEO. You add videos and images to your posts? Whats stopping a well coded tool from doing that? Nothing. There are programs out here that make Nuke, MS and UD look like trash.

I am building backlink with web 2.0 as Tier 1. Pick up the high PR site, create unique comtent with related images, videos. diversity anchortext so that it looks natural and post. Sometimes, I post many articles on each site. Half of them have no backlink and the rest contain backlink. This aims index site and look natural. Never use tool for building backlink, I work manuall all. I will use bookmark, social medial (facebook, twitter..to share) as Tier 2.

For me "manual" seo pays off. BST -> Order -> Paypal -> Confirm.

I use it for my clients and it works great...just do it and test, it will take a few months to see resaults usually so don't give up quick

Just use hybrid strategies when doing manual seo.

Or use SENuke XCR.

manual seo has always work for me with low competition keywords, but in my old age it is soooooo much easier just to run a senuke campaign and watch some aussie rules footy.

Everything I have done up until now has been manual.

It has been a learning curve over the 3 or so years my blog has been alive.

I really started off blind and did not consider things like or and authority, let alone gains. This was very much social interaction but sometimes a lot of work for small returns.

Think smart and plan a strategy in order to gain the greatest impact out of each link (was my lesson) you need social interaction and, pr/authority for all of your efforts. (I know this will sound like basics but it is amazing the mistakes people make)

Don't be afraid to automate some parts of the process. All of my research, posting communication and interaction took it out of me so much that I wasn't able to enjoy my site, my niche and ultimately my life. Being completely manual is exhausting and not smart.

By all means create the final link by hand but if you try to do everything yourself you will burn out (you will learn lots but at a cost)

Results are in proportion to effort. But slow. However you will weather the storm of google updates.

I know this is not like the other's have answered but just my two penny worth.

Automate as much of the donkey work as possible and reduce your manual labour to the most important part, the actual link.

manual seo?? with my 5 years of experience, i have seen lots of guys meet there end because of manual...

Either way works fine. But personally I've found better results using tools for everything. High quality for tier 1, and everything else, medium quality.
