Does making compilation videos work on Youtube?

Does making compilation videos work on Youtube monetization ?

I have seen a lot of videos like those, funny videos, fails , funny compilations ... etc..
I didn't see ads on all of them, was this because of the copyrights or what ?

These are probably profitable if you can rank for the queries, but you will need to either monetize with something other than adsense, or not mess around with the view counts at all(unless you know a secret high quality provider - which I do not - tried tons - all accounts banned for view manipulation).

No. I wasn't going to mess with fake views , I wanted instead to promote it through ads in Youtube.
How can I monetize it with something other than adsense on Youtube?
