I know many go this " problem " like don't like to put others website link on their site.

they more rather do inter link within their own site.

I heard some so call " SEO guru " claim link out to others site from your site also does help a bit on SEO

is like for an example a content talk about tech .

than you link out perhaps to CNET , etc tech website

Of Course it impact but for that site which take link from your site. Its not beneficial for your site.

sorry my bad my english not good, what you mean by is not beneficial for your site?

i try to link to really big authority sites with d0follow link, to more or less my competitors with n0follow
and yes, i think it is good to have relevant outbound links

Linking out to other sites is natural, and you want to look natural. But you do not want to link to a competitors site, lose your visitors by sending them somewhere else/better or lose your link juice which you need for internal links. So you need to be smart about who you link out to and make the link no-follow, so your site looks natural in G's eyes.

When you link out to related domains, it not only helps the search engine to understand your niche, but also helps to increase the trust and quality of your site which plays a vital role in your blog's SEO. Outbound links: Give search engines a clear idea about your blog because of relevant links.

About competitor website, I feel is depends ? Let's say you are doing like those " money sites , selling IM , etc " OR doing drop ship , or selling a products which a lot also selling or some " that is what you claim is right.
But I mean like news site, topics , aka for an example the site talk about a hobby, never sell thing , just information about the hobby
so kinda is not bad to link out to other hobby site aka like sharing information , which so does look natural in G eyes? which i mean here

When you link out to other sites google will have better understanding of what your site is about.

Obl should be low. You can link out to a relevant site if they have good authority or in-dep information. You should no-follow a paid and affiliate links respectively.

Linking out to other sites is absolutely beneficial if:

1. Site is authoritative. Google will see your site linking to authority site and start to build trust in your site.

2. Do not link to competitors for obvious reasons.

I generally do 2-3 outbound links/1000 word article.

Agree linking to authorative sites has a definite impact. It's worth making the link open in a new window though.

This and this ^^.....all you need to read your content from A to Z properly. If you feel if any word or phrase needs more clarification for the visitors and you have the resource in your site then link it. If you don't then search at Google and find an informative one which explains it better, then you can link it to that source. As other said, it helps search engine to understand your topic correctly. To play safe, we don't want to link to our competitors. Also, keep in mind that all information must not come from Wikipedia as most of us connect to Wikipedia only. It can come from other authoritative sources.

One thing I've done in the past is finding a good wiki on certain topics I want to be explained better, and rather than link to the wiki page, I'd check the sources at the bottom and see if there are any good information only type pages. A lot of times they link to white papers or research theses and these are what I aim for. They really wouldn't cause any traffic loss. It is usually too boring for normal viewers, but if they really want the explanation, it's there. Google's also mentioned quite a few times that cited sources are going to be an important part of the future, and eventually, they'll probably start looking heavily where you link since it ties directly to the expertise of your page. Or at least that's my line of thinking.
