Hi guys ive been wondering does link diversity play any role in ranking sites. Like having links from forums web2 etc help or just links from forums from xrumer type softwares alone help ?Any inputs ?

Yes Link and anchor text diversification will help you to gain SERP in Google.
Do create backlinks from various sources like web 2.0, forums, guest posting, articles, press release, directory and social bookmarking.
Using proper anchor text like Brand = 40% exact match anchor text = 1% naked domain = 10% generic keywords= 10%

If you dont do this you will not rank.

Yes they have a great impact on your rankings.

Diversity is a must in your seo campaign specially after penguin

- Diverse tlds : .com/.net/.gov etc
- Diverse anchors : keep exact match as low as possible, get some LSI keywords, add your brand name, how about co-citation?, generic anchors, naked urls etc
- Diverse authority: it looks so spammy if you only get links from high authority sites...mix PR, mix PA, old sites/new sites
- Diverse Types: get links from contextual as well as non contextual links..web2.0, wiki,articles, pdf,profiles,bookmark etc
- Deep-linking: don't get links only to homepage..build links to inner pages as well

Along with diversity, keep building links at steady velocity..==> dripfeeding

And you will rock the world :-)

ive been wondering does link diversity play any role in ranking sites.

It surely does.

With the coming of Google Penguin update a diverse backlink profile has become more important than ever. Below are some tips on how you should diversify your site backlinks:

- diversify your backlink sources: authoritative niche-relevant sites, blogs, forums, social media sites, bookmarking sites, etc.;

- vary the ways you are trying to get links. It's great when links get acquired in different types of interaction: e.g. guest posting, writing reviews, social media interactions, etc..;

- try to get different types of links: permanent, sitewide, footer, sidebar, links that roll off a blog's homepage, links to your homepage, links to your subpages, social profile links, etc. etc.;

- try get links from different types of TLDs like edu, .gov, .info, .net, .biz, etc. and CCTLDs (country code top level domains);

- and, of course, pay attention to diversifying Anchor Text of your links. As anchor text you may use naked URLs, your brand name; some general keywords, etc.

Hope you find these tips useful.

Lot of people here (I read some old posts) were seo amateurs, and after few months they become seo gurus :)

Jesus does his name really matter lol? Yes link diversification is key to ranking well.

Looks like OP just wanted to strike a conversation, of course any SEO GURU would know link diversity is the single most important linking factor.

It has a huge role especially after the latest updates. Even if you may rank without link diversity it will only be for a short time, but if you want to have a long term strategy then link diversity is a must.

Yes! Link diversity is one of the most important aspects of ranking a website.

Just try getting 100% blog comment links and tell me how you preform.

How is your name seoguru?

Dude first of all its my mistake that I should have mentioned if diversification is required these days in lb. Earlier like 6 months ago I really didnt bother about link diversification. For your comment of try doing 100% blog comment and see what happens Ive done only one type of bulk links in past and have ranked well like a beast. So dont be under a impression that building links from only one type doesn't rank. Anyways thank you for your time

As a general rule, any kind of diversification is always good for seo.

Be it Anchor Texts, Link Types (image, text - df, text - nf), Link platforms, Or Link PR

Diversity = Rankings
