Came across many websites with names like xxwebdirectory dot com, yywebdirectory dot com, xyzwebdirectory dot com and so on. These websites do have DR between 50-70 according to ahrefs.

Most of these website provide backlinks (nofollow) in there posts mainly consists of links only. Does this kind of backlink still helps boost authority and seo overall?

One of the site:

The DR might look good, but it’s inflated because they just link to thousands of sites. Their UR is usually trash, and their outbound link ratio is crazy high. Google’s algo got way better at detecting these link farms, so they won’t pass much value.

agreeable but is there possibility such backlinks do still add value or helps since notice some of my competitor using them apart from some other premium backlinks.

You can see from the image yourself that the site has near zero value because the traffic is 0. While some directory backlinks can be good and help to boost ranking they have to be real sites with actual traffic. I would suggest to avoid such spammy links as much as possible.

Yeah, they can still have some impact, but usually it’s short-term. If your competitor is ranking with those links, they’re probably mixing them with stronger, high-quality backlinks. Or they’re targeting low-competition keywords where even weak links can make a difference.

Yes, link building in web directory sites can still help a little, especially for local SEO. But focus on quality directories, not spammy ones, and use them as part of a bigger SEO plan.

give it a try - the only waste if it fails is a little time

Nofollow links from high DR web directories offer minimal direct SEO boost but can still help with indexing, referral traffic, and a natural backlink profile.
