Does Keyword order matter in domain?

Ever since the May Day update I have found that keyword domains carry much less weight. I actually have 2 sites in the same niche and my non-keyword domain outranks my keyword domain for the same keywords. Both sites have really strong SEO.

The keyword domain used to rank above and now the non-keyword domain beat it out for top spot. And I'm talking a very competitive niche. 100M+ results.

I dont think you should take any of the letter out of your domain if your trying to be ranked for those particular keywords. It wouldn't matter if you reversed your domain, It wouldnt hurt you.

I would agree with this. Whenever I have done KW research it always seems it is a natural human behaviour to search for [what i want] [placename] and not the other way around.

I chucked up a couple of sites a year or so ago and apart from a bit of page SEO have left them alone. One is [placename service] the other is [service placename].
The service placename site is page two for the KW phrase at 14 or 15 the other is no where to be seen.

Bing and Yahoo are listing service placename at positions 1 and 2.
 
Dont know if this helps and it was touched on by someone in thread earlier.
I used G KW tool for one of my niches.
If i research "PAT testing" + town OR "portable appliance testing" + town......

I always get same results!

Another instance, I search my KW's

One of my domains has the KW "installation"
If i search "installers" or "installer" then google picks this up and highlights the SERPS extract KW "installation" although i did not search that nor is it an exact match.
