Hi

My blog is all about science and technology

But, I have created back-links in some of the music sites and non- niche related sites.

My questions is if we have back-links from high DA sites that are not relevant to our niche, are they have the same effect like a link from a high DA relevant back-links?

It's better to have relevant links but all high DA backlinks will be worth your time.

Backlinks are, to some extent, used as a determinant of relevancy by Google. If you spam your site with unrelated backlinks, you will have harder time to rank it. So no, try to stick with relevant links.

If you can't get links from related websites, at least make the relevancy on a page level.

Like:

"The Surprising Science Behind What Music Does To Our Brains"
"9 Technologies That Changed the Way Musicians Create Music Forever"

This works best! That way you can get links from 1000s of sites and be relevant.

If you had to get links from niche relevant website only to rank then SEO would have been very costly.

Just make sure that you know how to do the anchors, be safe :)

It's always better to get relevant links where possible.

Always better to add relevant backlinks to your site, if you are adding unrelated backlinks to your site it will consider as bad links, and also it is hard to rank.

Link relevancy is important. Add possible relevant links to your site. It will increase the relevancy of the site and provides more value than irrelevant link. Adding irrelevant links sometimes will cause trouble to site.

i have gotten high DA guest posts and pointed them to my homepage which has increased my own DA and rankings for alot of the pages on the site but once I got niche relevant links I got a huuuuge boost in my serps for my targeted anchor text kwds

I think people generally don't know what a relevant link is.

It basically means that a link coming to your website should be closely connected or appropriate for your website or page.

Please note: 'website' or 'page'! Let me take the auto niche, for instance. You can literally build countless links to your auto site from other niches such as:

1. The food niche. Here you can write a topic on something like "12 of the Best and Worst Foods to Eat While in the Car"
2. The health niche. "Negative Health Effects Of Driving A Long Commute"
3. The parenting niche. "10 Super Cool Mom Cars"
4. Even the cannabis niche. "Driving with a Marijuana High: How Dangerous Is It?"

And you could literally build several dozen links on each individual niche. Hope you get the picture.
