I have had my vps for a while, but about a month ago I got the message that my windows was not genuine. I didn't pay much mind to it at first but now im concerned that this could be affecting the vps capabilites. Therefore, my question is does it matter ?

Not tried windows on a vps server but xp and that use to log you out after a while and just not let you stay logged in a pain.

I can't seem to understand your sentence. Are you saying you had a windows xp that was not genuine and after a while it didn't let you log in?

Small Bump. Can someone help me with this?

not sure on the server side, but people who i know had pirated copies of windows couldn't change the background picture

If it's running Windows 2008 Server you can reset the activation period 3 times past the initial 60 day grace period. To reset the activation:

  1. Click Start, and then click Command Prompt.
  2. Type slmgr.vbs -dli, and then press ENTER to check the current status of your evaluation period.
  3. To reset the evaluation period, type slmgr.vbs -rearm, and then press ENTER.
  4. Restart the computer.

I think it eventually limits your capabilities, try to find a new keygen for it. A keygen might help make it "genuine".
