Does it hurt your PR if you have the same article on a few article directories?

I was just curious if anyone actually knew if it hurt your backlinks/PR if you had your article on a few different article directories?

If you have a link to an article or something or just sound advice, please share. Thanks

Of course it will hurt.You have to make it Unique!

The rule of thumb will be "always spin your article before you submit it to any article directories". You should not have the same articles even between your own site/blog and the article directories.

It would be best if you keep the original article posted in your blog/site then submit the spun article to 1 article directories, which mean if you'd like to submit it to 5 directories then you should spin it 5 times.

I am sure article/content spinner script will come handy .

How can your PR or links get hurt? PR is a worthless indicator and backlinks are backlinks. You can hurt your SERPs or get done for doup content but you will not do any damage to your PR nor backlinks.

Here is a little case study from my own beginnings in SEO...


I had a site that was just starting out and I solely did article marketing to promote the site. I used Article Announcer and I dropped like 30 unique hand crafted articles to about 2 - 3 hundred directories within two weeks.

In about a month if that, I had crazy traffic and TONs of legit backlinks to my site. About two months later, every single backlink dropped except for like 20.

I did a little research and all my articles were in the directories and the backlinks were just not counted anymore or something. I guess that whole duplicate content bs caught up to me.

So my advice is this. Just submit your article to some of the biggest names.

Ezinearticles dot com
Goarticles dot com

and a few others.

Those will bring you the most traffic anyways.

Then just re-write the article and re-submit to those directories again!

That is what I've been doing lately and the backlinks stick and bring you tons of traffic.

Another tip would be to submit your article to the top niche-based article sites. Say if you have an education article, submit to an edu related article directory. Of course, still submit to the highest ranked directories like ezine.

It seems like I made mistakes before. I will also submit my article to few article directories.

I'd like for you to show me some examples of how this has actually ever hurt anyone. You do not have to write a different article for every article directory, I am positive about that. It will depend on a number of factors to how much it will help though. The important things are submitting to high page rank directories(quality not quantity), differentiating the title and description, and having a well written article with a good balance of your target keywords(whoever you hire should know lateral terms, keyword densities, etc).

Pay a little more to have quality articles written, poorly written articles for cheap are basically worthless. The methods i have just described are for organic quality, not to get a ton of backlinks in efforts to become indexed and ranked. If you just want 1000 backlinks, submit to directories, not article directories.

Solid advice... you will only need to submit to a handful of quality directories in order for you to benefit. In fact i only submit to ezine, Isnare ,Go, web pro news and a few others when i need to promote and it can be the same article just make sure it is a damn good one.

Very true, the whole concept behind the Article Splasher Package I created a few years ago. Rehashes your old articles, replacing words with synonyms of that word (good becomes "great" or "solid" or "terrific") and 5 other tools with various SEO goodies.
