Does it hurt 301 redirect from 3 expired domains?

    hey there,

    does anybody know if having 3 expired domains pointing to my site with 301 redirect are putting at risk my ranking?

    No risk, take a look at g0d@ddy as an example. They have quadrillians of 301 redirects and still manage to dominate the "domain names" keyword

    I doubt they treat Godaddy and a normal person the same.

    you could do an iframe on the expired domains wouldn't that work out ?

    I don't think it should have a negative effect.

    Won't have any negative effects but probably won't have much benefit either, even if the dropped domains have backlinks.

    Domains have some backlinks and are aged (apart from 1 wich is younger that mine).

    I read some stuff online and found what Matt Cutts says about this


    There are some domain transfers ( e.g. genuine purchases of companies) where it can make perfect sense for links to transfer. But at the same time it wouldn't make sense to transfer the links from an expired or effectively expired domain, for example. Google (and probably all search engines) tries to handle links appropriately for domain transfers.
    The sort of stuff our systems would be designed to detect would be things like someone trying to buy expired domains or buying domains just for links.


    Not sure though if it means that who uses expired domains for backlink purpose risks penalties from Google wich is what i really want to avoid.
