Do you feel like life is getting faster and faster?

When I was a kid I remember not being able to wait 2 days till my birthday. A week was AN ETERNITY. Then it was a month.

Now it seems like waiting a year for something seems like a reasonable amount of time.

I remember when I was in college I had a mentor, he told me that life in your twenties goes by super fast, then when you're 30 it slows down.

Doesn't seem that way to me. Sometimes a week can go by like that, I don't even realize it, "wow, it's Friday already, didn't the week just start?"

And I'm only 30. At this rate I'll be pushing 50 in no time and wondering where 20 years have gone.

Anyone else scared life is going super fast?

Remember summer vacation when you were a kid? It felt like six months. Now the summer just flies by.

Relativity applies to time as much as anything else. One day doesn't feel so long when you've lived through ~11,000 of them (and that's not much). Plus the weight of 100x more responsibilities, and you pretty much hope the day ends so you can just get to sleep. :D

Edit: Makes you wonder, I've heard a fruit fly only lives 24 hours. 1 second must feel like 1 month to them.

The strange thing is: Somehow I like it this way.
Passing your twenties, life is getting boring. Sometimes, though my life is good overall, I feel like I'm just waiting for death... for as long as I don't travel around and see new things, at least.

Well that's just depressing. So the older we get, the more responsibilities we have, the more we are just looking for life to end?

Ah, what I wouldn't give to be a kid again.

    did you happen to catch
or did it happen so fast
what you thought would always last
    has passed you by
    is everything speeding up
    or am I slowing down
    just spinning around
    and I don't know why
    all the pieces don't fit
    thought I really didn't give a shit
I never wanted to be like you
    but for all I aspire
    I am really a liar
and I'm running out of things I can do

Couldn't help it, reminded me of a NIN song..

High School was the worst for me, that seemed like 10 years.

Now that I'm 19 and not really committed to a daily routine like that anymore, the days seem to have less hours to make use of.

I know exactly what you mean man. Used to feel like it took forever between my birthdays. Now a year feels like nothing.

The more events you have in your life the faster time will seem to go by.

    LOL that is good.

Time goes faster because you have more to do and you are busy doing it. What about those days where your internet is down. Those drag on forever. It is not that time is faster it is that you are busier.

Yeah I feel the same way. To me things started really speeding up after I graduated high school. Up until that point time kinda dragged on (in a good way though). I'm 23 now and I can't believe I've been out of HS for longer than I was actually in it. Feels like yesterday I was graduating.

Another thing that sucks is I feel like there's nothing much left to look forward to....

When you're a kid you look forward to the summer and weekends and holidays so you're off school.

When you're a younger teenager all you look forward to is being 16 so you can drive.

Once you're 16 - 18 and start partying, you look forward to being 21 so you can legally drink and get into clubs and bars.

When you're 21+ there's not much left to get excited about in my opinion as there's no big milestones left. Sure there's the possibility of starting a family and what not, but having kids would just make me feel older than I am.

It's funny because when you're a kid all you ever say is "I can't wait to grow up so I don't have to go to school and I can make money". For me now though, I'd trade all my money and material shit to go back to being a kid.

Maybe I'm just stuck in a rut since every day is basically the same thing: Wake up at 12pm, do some work on the computer for a few hours, work out, shower, then watch TV or play video games until I go to bed. Gets kinda old and depressing.

Not to sound like a downer or anything, but this thread just got me thinkin...

Good point. Do you drive fast and eat fast too?

Try this. After driving really fast for a period of time, you will feel that things are moving so fast. Try doing that a few times.

Also, for SEO people like us, the more we do, the faster it becomes..and the more automated it is too. Then, we will feel that things are going faster and faster :) Thoughts?

Interesting point lol. I have noticed that I think. I'm not sure if this is also what you mean, but I do notice that after driving for any significant amount of time on a highway, when I get into residential areas, I'll be doing 20-40 miles over the speed limit because I've been so used to going fast... At that point, going at a normal rate of speed seems slow as shit.

Now that I think about it, life really is passing by faster - and I'm not even 20 yet...

Oh well, life is life I guess :p
