Let's say my domain has a PR of 5 and I link to one of my posts - does this link work the same way as if I had an external link with a PR of 5 pointing to my post?

And let's say I have an archive with blog posts, does that mean the domain gives power to the archives page -> posts?

Yes. That's why you should treat every page on your site like a separate website.

yup, it's similar when you do that. that's why so many sites now are all nofollow to hold all the linkjuice in to their own pages.

but be careful with how many internal links you have per page as that will dilute the link juice flow to your other pages. I learned that the hard way!

A lot of people neglect their internal linking strategy, which is great from a competitive standpoint. Interlinking your content properly will definitely help boost your efforts across the board. As gooma said, just don't overdo it.
