Does hosting location matters?

Hello.
So far, I've used only hosting from the US. However, in the past 3 months, I switched to hosting in Canada and noticed that my website is not ranked for Google.com but ranked for Google Canada. What if I used a web hosting located in Bulgaria? Will my website ranked for Google Bulgaria only but not other locations?

Is your website a .ca? Country codes helps the most for ranking in specific counties, hosting shouldn't drop you out of US rankings
 
There is a correlation but it shouldn't be that huge.
We recently tested this by switching a few sites targeting the UK market from InterServer ( USA hosting) to Vidahost (UK hosting ) - all went up a couple of spots, like from #5 to #3 - nothing too spectacular but it's probably the easiest thing to do to improve your ranking.

Nope. It is a .com. The registrar itself is from the US, but the hosting is in Canada.

mmm, not sure man. Like Dante said, it's a small improvement to specific geos, but nothing huge to completely lose all rankings, maybe give it a few weeks and see what happens!
 
Talking from experience, there is no problem hosting in Canada and ranking in the US or even Australia.

Also you can rank .ca in the US and vice versa..

Honestly, not much in term of ranking but important in term of site speed. Domain extension is a lot more important than hosting location.
