A domain name and hosting are two different things, I live in the Netherlands and I got .com, .org, .net ,.info and .io domains but my server is in the USA because that's where my main focus is but as soon as I have some cash left to spend I will definitely invest in a good CDN.Someone at Google once said that you would want to host your site on the same country as your targeted audience, but it doesn't matters if you use .co.uk domain.
If use use .com, and hosting in US, it could be used a signal and will give the other .co.uk competitors the upper hand in the serps.

I really don't think it matters all that much anymore, you could rank any domain with proper SEO.I don't necessarily agree with this. A .com would outrank a nationalized domain name pretty much any day of the week.
Free cloudflare is rubbish!! When I tested them my first byte dropped drastically.
With @GreenCloudVPS renting a linux server with them for $10,-Who is that with?
As my main target for now is USA and Canada and my server is in LA I dropped it entirely because paid CDN is expensive but once I scale up which means then I got the money for it I will pay for a CDN for sure. What did you do to fix this? Did you go to paid Cloudflare, drop them entirely, something else?
