I just started using Linkedin for sales prospecting. I have optimized my profile in many ways, but I have less than 100 connections. Should I take the time to get my connections up to 500+ before starting my sales attempts? Someone told me that 500+ connections is very important, but I am not sure it is. Any advices is appreciated.

It depends if it's 500 homeless people on linkedin trying to find a job no.

Depends on the quality, if you have 100 rolex buyers in your contacts and you sell rolex, it will be enough to feed you with fishes.

500 is a magic number because no matter if you have 501 or 9000 connections, it shows "500+ connections" on LinkedIn (although you can see the actual number too, but it's not that obvious).

It is important as a trust factor - someone with 82 connections looks like they just joined LinkedIn, have a fake account or no network.

Boost those numbers, they will grow easy, you can get there in a month or so.

Thanks for your input everyone. I have a funnel planned, and I probably will use dux soup and sales navigator in the process. My first step will be to build connections and I will later use those connects further down the funnel.

Dude I am in the same boat I just joined today I have not even completed my profile properly. Llike really I dont even have proper pic lol Well I only have ones in groups of people.

Does anyone here want to connect?

Particularly for LinkedIn? Yes, having a lot of connections adds value to your account. 100 per week is still the limit, I believe? Good luck on the strats!

But exactly like the guys said, just be careful about quality

It will definietly create some social proof.. so yeah it's better to have 500+

like your quality of 2 posts in less than 1 minute when you
could have done those 2 replys in 1 like so.

It shows the legitimacy of the account and builds some trust and activities of the account also plays an important part

Just remember, you have to connect with the right people. They must be in your niche and should be desicion markers if you are gonna sell b2b services. B2b can be tough for a newbie so you can can start with b2c and target professionals in your niche, for example coders, designers, etc.

Yes its a good idea to have 500+ connections, it takes a few weeks but you will get there eventually,
its not a requirement but it looks good on your profile.
