I found an interesting report on Google, basically saying that duplicate content, domain age, and all the other things we've been led to believe are important to the Big G don't mean squat. (It originally came from theimblueprint-dot-com.) Supposedly, a year of full-time research went into it and it's based on 200 domains.

yes, but maybe google IS actually brainwashing us. It could be true
 
Google doesn't give a crap about content, original, duplicate or whatever. They are not building a library of information for humankind or digitizing vast amounts of data for our use. They are just throwing enough information together to push their advertising on every site.

I mean, come on, when was the last time your searched the net for something and found it all nice and perfect in one place? Never happens and they don't want it to happen. Now its getting even worse as their business model allows shit websites to get top rankings, now its even harder to find what you want.
 
I have a few sites with scraped content ranking higher than the original site, Google wont penalize you if you have the same content as another site, but will if the content within your own site (domain) is the same they will just ignore duplicate content within the same URL.
 
Good content is only important for your visitors who are really interested in your product/service.

However, it's good to have some content with a good mix of keywords. The more rocks you have, the more birds you can hit ;)
 
If Google doesn't care about content, then why do people use article spinning, I have also heard of Google slap for duplicate content, what is that then?
 
I'd like to know what else will lower the PR hehe

I believe that good content will cause bookmarking, adding to facebook and a low bounce rate. That is why I put something on there what will hold their attention for a bit. A youtube vid or podcast seems to help my bounce rate. I noticed if you make people mad or laugh they will share it.

My brutally honest sites always do well.

Well said - emotional marketing is why you do articles. its not just to write content for spiders to crawl - you can copy/paste crap for that as long as you do the rest of the stuff right.

People need to stop looking at IM as if it has only one solution and once you figure out that one little piece, you win. There are hundreds of ways to get to the top, the rest of you would know this if you actually had 200 sites yourself and not just reading someone elses research and assuming since someone made a PDF that they are some sort of authority.
 
Google don't care for useless and badly written content but it's very important for you as someone reading your content and you redirected that article to product. If that article was written in poor English, person who's reading simply left your site after reading few lines while in case of good content, may be he will buy your product.
 
Again, I have never created good content. Content takes about 5-10% of my efforts. All the rest is backlinks and spam. I certainly do alright from this practice.

It's all about finding niches where arduously written content is not required.
 
I have lots of non unique pages ranked number 1 for competetive keywords. Homepages were actually scraped from a couple of articles written somewhere else (With permission)

Just my 2cents.....
 
I recently threw up a website which is only 1 page of content and 3 pages of a blank privacy policy, contact, and an about page. It is myexacttwokeyworddomain.com and within 2 days, I am ranked number 8 with exact monthly searches over 40k. I agree with contentworld about them not caring as long as the duplicate content doesn't come from within the same site. They would consider this spam and penalize your site or sandbox it.
 
When you write good content, number of views of your articles increase thus helping your site.

I'm curious, is this site a good earner? Not looking for actual numbers, mind you, just a scale of not really-pretty good-hell yeah-negro please!

You all keep believing that google doesn't care about crap content. The more spam crap you put out there the better it is for real websites that offer value to the readers. you will end up wasting your time in the long run, you may be #8 after two weeks but give it another week or so an your are gone.
Not only does google care about quality content on your site, it cares about quality content on the sites that link to your site. That's why you see NO results spinning articles and publishing them to all the same places over and over again. Google knows they are the same article and discounts the links. Oh and the same goes for bookmarking. This 30% uniqueness crap that's floated around by "gurus", absolute shite.
 
May be there's a conspiracy to make merchandise of people he...he...heh.. In my opinion, better to give good content, however, I've had scrapped articles rank good for a LONG time...
