I own 2 sites - one is http and second is https. They are in the same age, similar backlinks and the https one is better indexed and ranks higher. Does google like https more?

Data analysis has shown that HTTPS websites have a higher advantage of ranking over HTTP links, so switching to HTTPS will benefit any website, whether or not confidential information is involved.
Google now uses HTTPS as a ranking signal.

SSL actually bring additional advantage to your site.
Https is correlated with higher ranking on G.

HTTPS allows secured blogging.
and hence users love that
And so Google approves that as ranking factor

No doubt google favors Https than http, but beside that, have you noticed that when your website is reading http, visitors will receive error telling them they're landing onto a dangerous website. it means you'll be losing your visitors because most people won't proceed after receiving such warning especially google chrome.

If you are in IM then you should know that google already told that https will be use as ranking signal in 2014.

How could Google or any other search engine prefer unsecured URLs rather than secured ones?
Besides, if your site is not HTTPS you'll lose a part of your traffic as people get a warning message on their browser before entering your website.

it is SSL that has more importance. I think google stated that few year back.

IT's being a ranking signal for a while.

While using Google, security is the top priority here. Https has strong industry related security than Http and also website that uses Https has some benefit of overall ranking.

HTTPS is HTTP with encryption. The only difference between the two protocols is that HTTPS uses TLS (SSL) to encrypt normal HTTP requests and responses. As a result, HTTPS is far more secure than HTTP . A website that uses HTTP has http:// in its URL, while a website that uses HTTPS has https://.

HTTP vs HTTPS : HTTPS as a Ranking Factor .
Considering their user-based algorithm updates, Google preference for trusted sites isn't surprising. If users are guaranteed to have a secure site experience, the answer to HTTP vs HTTPS becomes simple - they will prefer HTTPS to HTTP.

Google Prefer https than http .

the short answer is yes,
this doesn't make a huge ranking factor tho,
you can still rank HTTP only website if you do anything else the right way
but why lose an advantage while you can add an SSL in 30 secs

Google has indexed only the home page of my google site and balance pages are not Further I see the following on my GSC Insufficient https coverage on your site Very strange Can any elite member help to resolve the issus
