Does Google perceive Article Submission to Free Directories as Spam?

[SUB]​[/SUB]Is over submission to the free article directories is considered as Spam? In our SEO promotion we frequently make directory submission. Does Google understand these links as quality links? What other steps can be applied to build "QUALITY" Links?

1) You dont get more power just by having more links from one domain.

2) I belive that Autoapprove sites have a lower standard in google since anything can be submited whitout any controll, sites whitout autoapprove is better seen by google (just my thoughts to)

If you can get approved on authoritative directories where actual humans approve them then no, this will not be spam.

However, if you submit to directories that don't require approval then it might not be SPAM but you won't get that much love.

It all about quality these days. The more junk on the site the more it is devalued. Look for the links that nobody else has. That's the trick.

Just look at the article directory case by case and analyze their Alexa ranking for past 2 years. When it took a dive, it means it was devalued. However, I think most such sites got devalued including squidoo and hubpages.

i believe it depends more on the post then the directory.

if its a bad directory, but a good post > bad directory with bad post.

still a good directory will have less OBL and more IBL so it will be worth more

Quality is never free, you either have to invest time or money (IMO)

Article directories should not be used en masse to link directly to your money site. It's better to use article directories sparingly when pointing to your money site but more for 2nd and even 3rd tier links, in my opinion.
