Does Google Penalize for Quoting an Amazon Review?

I have an Amazon review site and I was wondering if I quote a review from Amazon, does Google see that I have duplicate content and penalize me? How about even if I put quote marks around it? Thanks!

If the whole page is quoted then they will penalize but if you are just quoting a small section of the page then I see no problem.
 
I've never had issues ranking pages with quotes on them like that. In the future though, I'll be using antichrist's tip. Can't believe I never thought of that. Awesome, thanks!
 
No, I have entire pages that are quotes, mixed together with a bunch of other unique content on them that have been ranking for years.

Think about the real internet - people naturally quote things all the time. If Google penalized every site that had a quote on it, there'd be nothing left to rank!
 
Google algorithms you will be penalized by having duplicate content on your website that appears somewhere else. This buries websites that automatically crawl other sites and steal their content so it actually makes a lot of sense, but sometimes this info isn't well known and people think they can just copy and paste content from other sites. If you want your site to rank well at all on search engines (which is the best way to get traffic) then you should only write your own unique content.
 
No, I don't think they will penalize. But you should also have unique content on that page.
 
WeaselZippers does nothing but quote other sites. However, if you type in one of his article titles it will appear on the first page of Google.

you'll probably be fine with quoting Amazon reviews.
 
You don't have to worry about this, it is perfectly fine to quote other people.
 
No, you are just quoting a review, so why Google is going to penalise your site.

Google isn't magic.
Quote the review, they'll never know.
 
Google always wants to give the different content to the searchers. However, in your case if you are only referring anything, it will not come under the copyrighted content. When you use the whole content, then only It will be content as a copyrighted content.
 
As in my opinion, I don't put the original customer review, but I rephrased customer feedback and then give a hyperlink to his name. So content will be unique as well and you'll get authority for posting honest reviews with referral link. But advice of antichrist that cannot be denied.
 
Quoting the customer review is ok and can be used to your advantage. Just give part of the review and leave it at a point that makes the reader want to read more and then link through to Amazon so they can read the rest. Easy way to get click throughs.
 
If google doesn't penalize you, amazon might, and you could lose your affiliate account, copy and paste their customer's reviews from their website is against OA. You can show customers reviews but you have to use API.
