Thinking about making a new site. Domain name I want is only available with .info.

How is .info nowadays in terms of SEO and rankings?
Should I go for it or should I find a name with .com?

I've seen them rank, but they do have an association with spam, so you'd have to build some serious trust. It can be done, but I agree dotcoms are better if you can get a similar domain. PMDs are fine now, EMD lost a lot of their benefits a long time ago.

Google doesn't give a shit to tld. There are a lot of great legit sites on .info. And there are a lot of shitty sites on .com. You just see shitty .info more often than legit .info sites, that's why you have an impressions they all are spam.

I have a keyword rich .info domain which i booked 11 months ago and its rankings on page one for the main keyword. i think it works well if you put quality content and good link building. however if you want to be on safer side book a .com

These days an info costs close to the same as com/net/org. I doubt you'd have issues ranking a .info site.

Google doesn't prioritize TLDs in any way.

Tlds don't really matter, people used to go for infos when they were cheap. These days coms do the job pretty well.

It doesn't matter indeed, the reason why you see a lot of .com in the SERPS is simple, .com is the oldest and most popular TLD, all sites with big authority started out on a .com that is why you see them, but if you take a fresh .info and a fresh .com there is no difference in rankings what soever
