Does Google ignore your meta description?

If you have written meta description then Google check that but if you have not written then google automatically detect content from your site on that page. But google not ignoring meta description..

I think that should be in place. It was the time when Google used that description for Snapshorts in the SERP.

google does not ignore your meta description
but if you don't have meta description they will get related info from your content and use it for search result

It does not ignore it, but it can definitely choose not to use/show it in the search results.

The source code for your site should contain exactly one description meta tag. If the tag is missing or if more than one appears, you may not see the preferred description in search engines. View the source code for your site to determine if either of these situations apply.

Google just ignore your whole SEO, backlinks, ect... and put a Facebook page in front of you.

The case studies say that Google does it even if you write your own descriptions and rewrites them in 70+% of cases.
It does not ignore it, but it can definitely choose not to use/show it in the search results.
That is also my opinion.

First rule of the SEO game, dont trust Google. Analyze search results and check what top 5 are doing, no need to read big case studies and all that guru shit.
