I'm reading contradictory opinions on this. Some say they were punished for posting too many and others that it doesn't really matter as long as your site is legit. I'm using Amazon links on most of my sites and I've found a couple of golden products I'm afraid I may be over promoting. How risky is this?

You can always hide those from search engine bots - visitors see the links but crawlers don`t. But you can always test it by yourself too - build a site, rank and then add links and see if you lose rankings or not.

Cheers

keep me updated on this matter! i'm actually quite curious about this as well...just started putting up affiliate links

There's a BST here for a product called Link Ninja, you can hide your links from Search Engines with it.
And yeah, there are high chances to hate Amazon Links considering Amazon announced a new Advertising Network, a great competitor for G.

Traditionally google hates any affiliate links.. They can be hidden from crawlers though. I would a little trial and error concerning that, build just a couple and monitor closely.. Obviously, discontinue if you see yourself penalized.

I am using amazon on my blogs and also using amazon aff links on my blog. It never hurts my ranking. If you use aff link on Blogspot may be you will get ban.

Another useless thread. What do you thing about all those threads about making an amazon affiliate website or users journeys? So much energy wasted ...

hiding them from search engine is an good idea

Either use Link Ninja or cloak the link with thirsty affiliates or similar plugins.
