Does Google favour informational over commercial sites?

I’d like to get your opinion on that.

What do you think based on your experience, does google favour informational websites such as niche content rich blogs over commercial sites like E-Commerce websites?

Personally, I tend to say it does, as I don’t think Google is that happy to see e-commerces doing SEO to avoid spending money with their AdWords service. So, in my opinion, it should be easier to rank a blog than an e-commerce, both targeting the same niche.

Most serp-s have page divided between two different "slots" or result types - commerce and info. For example i have niche where Pos 4 is always informational article but 1-3 are always online stores. The domain can change but p4 is always article.
