Does google ads bring you ROI? Many ads show wrong for me

I find that many ad campaigns on google show on websites that just don't make sense or even child games.
I had direct help from google on weekly basis and still this happened.

Can we even trust it? It feels that many of the spending just is wasted.
Experiences? Other good options curious for too let me know!
