Rumor says since it was dropped from their toolbar, public PR server info is no longer updated/accurate. They, supposedly did that to combat link selling?
The public PR is updated far less frequently than what it once was. There was only 1 update in 2010 (April) and we just recently had an update this year (January). mozRank isn't a bad replacement if you need to keep track of this type of stuff.
True but pr is important primarily because its google's way of telling you how good a page is. Pages that are important to google are ranked 10 and pages that aren't important are ranked NA or 0. If you are getting links from a page with pr then it means the link are good links.
