I was curious to know if it effects engagement rate.

Yes ofcourse, when you follow people. You will get new followers and some of them will also like your pictures. Some of them are really active followers. But when you unfollow them, they will unfollow you aswell and your likes drop. And unfollow phases when you post pictures you probably will get less likes.

Yes it does, after a while your posts won't get much attention as they used to

that is strange because from 1,100+ followers i am getting only 200 - 300 video views and 50 - 80 likes :/

@dutchbair What do you suggest, what is the best way to increase followers?

Thanks a lot for suggestion

Follow/unfollow make your account look spam in the Instagram algo if done for a longer period of time and ur acc might get banned to to this kind of activity. It's fine if you do follow/unfollow under a certain limit depending on the account's age

How will you follow? From another IG accaunt or collect your own base of user?

While most people focus on criticizing follow/unfollow on Instagram, the same principles apply to Twitter and to Pinterest. Are you strategically retweeting or repinning? That’s inauthentic. Are you sharing the same blog links multiple times? Inauthentic. I’ve had Twitter since 2009. I’ve absolutely changed how I use it since starting my blog. I’m not sure when I first signed up for Pinterest, but I’ve completely changed my boards and my pins over the last two years.

I think its only best to use follow/unfollow up to a certain amount of followers until you see good natural growth. Otherwise, you risk a shadowban and it does look spammy causing engagement to drop.
