I sold 300 items for 0.99$... i got around 122 feedbacks, but i still myself on #400 for the stuff i want to sell. i didn't went up or down... lol despite they are all 100% positive.
Some people just don't bother leaving feedback, thats what happens. You can send them a polite reminder, but still a few won't bother. Don't worry though, as soon as you make a mistake, they well leave you feedback faster than you can ever expect.
Do you have eBay Seller Manager? If so, you can set it up to remind people automatically to leave you feedback at certain intervals. I also include an invoice and a friendly note that says "5 Star Feedback Please" on top of the invoice and almost always get feedback for the items I sell. This may help you as well.
Reviews help alot cause most likely they would look at your ratings before buying something from you. Also if you become a top rated seller you are most likely to be at the top of the list
