Does Featured Image Matter for SEO

Hey guys,

I just started using GeneratePress theme and I can't seem to hide the featured image on my posts.

I'm thinking of just deleting the featured images off my post but how important is the featured image to SEO. Has any noticed a change in rankings when removing/adding SEO or is it just one of those cosmetic additions that really don't matter?

are u talking about the featured snippet on google or of the featured image on ur site?

delete it if u dont want it just make sure to add an image in the post

I will say featured images are important in wordpress. I don't think they will have any impact on rankings.
They provide visual appearance to your articles or blog posts.
Using relevant featured images you can drive traffic as a visual image can project the very idea of your post.

At the end it's your choice you can add images and videos to the post itself.

You can remove the featured image on Generatepress.

I use the theme and I removed mine sometime ago. Can't remember the process though but if you search on Google, you'll get the method on their forum.

And to your question, No, I don't think featured image matters for SEO. It's just a regular image.
