A lot of advice online still says the first hour after posting is crucial for boosting reach,
But I’m not sure how strong that effect is anymore with recent changes. Sometimes posts take off hours later; other times early engagement helps a ton.

What’s your experience? Do likes and comments in the first hour still seem to influence the reach of your posts?

Early engagement can help but algorithm signals now weigh content quality relevance and watch time more than just the first hour of likes and comments

They do back in 2017 now i dont know how the algo works but like the dude above said watch time matters but make sure they are real not bought from a panel .
Try microworkers or something like that

It makes a lot of sense on YouTube and Tik Tok. This is because the algorithms start pushing videos to the top. It doesn't matter on other social media platforms

Engagement can still help your content gain momentum, but the most reliable long-term boost comes from consistently creating posts that spark genuine interaction at any time, not just within the first hour.

The engagement you get between the first hour tba the sixth hours is determines how far the post will go according to.my experiences

Early engagement still helps but it’s no longer the whole story, so focus on creating content that keeps people watching or interacting over time because the platforms now care more about steady performance than just the first hour.

I don't know about 'early' engagement but engagement overall is one the biggest factors in YT (along with watch time) suggesting your video to others. Same goes for Instagram.

From what I’ve seen, early engagement still helps, but it’s not as make-or-break as it used to be. Some posts get delayed traction, especially on platforms where the algorithm recycles content over time.
I’d say the first hour matters, but overall consistency, watch-time, and post quality seem to carry more weight now.

Curious to hear what others have noticed too.

First-hour engagement can still influence reach, but its effectiveness may vary based on algorithm changes and the specific content; some posts indeed gain traction later, indicating that timing is becoming less rigidly crucial.

it used to be a factor before, it all boils down now to the quality of content that you post, with all the trash content that's floating around, its best that you stand out
