Does EMD worth it? How to rank it now?

Hey,

As the title says, I see good keyword with 2K searches (If it ranks #1, I guess I can make good money monthly) and EMD .com, the ranking sites have average DA 50

Is it worth it to buy it and build website and work months on it? If Yes, how I can rank it in 2018 without Over-optimization?

Personally, I find EMDs to have lost its ranking power, as compared to 5-8 years back. Previously, you can just do a gigantic exact match anchor blast to the EMD and the EMD will rank and bank real quick.
But lately, the EMD behavior is just like most new .com, .net, org, etc where everything starts from 0 and you won't have any advantage there.
But I do find that local TLDs, like .co.uk and couple that with an EM keyword - these are still retaining its ranking power for locally search keywords -- the money pot is still there, just in a different form.

Most EMD are not available but if you find one, it should rank a bit better than random domain name, but not by a large margin; PMD could be as good or better than EMD nowadays, as you have less risk of over-optimzation. All this is debatable.

What we know is EMD power is a thing of the past.

Emds still rank easier than none emd. I don't find that partial emds are of any use these days.

EMDs still work just fine, just make sure it's a clean history if it's not brand new.

So, I will go with it and register that EMD after I checked the it has clean history! How I go to rank it now without penalization? Any advices or like pilot points plan?

Same as you'd work with any domain; good on page, avoid over optimisation etc etc.

As this is EMD, URL anchor is good as it includes the keywords; or brand anchor likewise; but do not overdo it.

Other than that do not over-optimize, ie use varied anchors, long tail keywords, LCI, general keywords.

Keep your site private and you will rank very well, EMD works fine.

I think EMD will always have some level of value. I feel like sometimes the algorithm believes that the name of the business is the actual keyword/domain, and that when people type in that exact kw they're searching for that "business". That's how I think of it anyway.

Does EMD worth it? How to rank it now?
