Does double 301 redirect still work to escape google penalty

None of my sites have been hit by the recent algo update but I'm just wondering whether one can still use this tactic to escape google penalties. I want to make sure there's a way out if one happens down the line

I've not seen this tactic discussed for many years, but I suspect the answer is no it's no longer effective.

Well do we have a method to circumvent google bans as of now? I won't get banned in like a year but in 3 I certainly will

If there is such a method I doubt it's discussed publicly. With BH you just live with the possibility of bans in mind, and spread the risk to accommodate it.
