Back in the day, it did.
Back in the day, if you include your target keywords or your main keyword in your domain name, you get an instant boost.
It turned out that Google’s ranking system has automatic preference for domain names that contain keywords.
Several years back Google reset this default, it no longer works automatically.
Nowadays, you can still benefit from your domain name, but it doesn’t happen automatically.
You can’t just register a domain name with a keyword in it and expect your blog to rank.
It doesn’t work like that anymore.
Instead, you need to rank your pages organically, and then once you reach a certain threshold or your blog has been around long enough and has enough ranking pages your domain authority starts to improve.
This is the work-around that Google has to that automatic domain boost system, that it used to have several years back.
As you can well imagine, it got abused.
That’s why that’s no longer the default.
But it still works.
You just have to go through the right process, and it does take time.
