Does doing this unintentionally affect reach?

Hi guys!

So, an Australian client of mine now has a YT channel which he does as a hobby.

Some YT optimization dude blasted some of its videos with low retention views and stuff so my question was this that will this impact the reach of future videos he publishes?

He reached out to me after a long time recently as he used to be a blogger before and I used to help him with his blog back in 2020 - 21.

WIll he have to abandon this one and start afresh or what?

it can affect reach. some competitors specifically use this method to attack others.
it doesn't mean his channel is doomed. he can continue, but you need to upload new videos without adding views.

Remember that adding views is not necessarily bad even if low retention.
whether it has a negative effect or not depends purely on the quality of views and the nature of your content.

for example there are real human views that come from embedded ads on websites, and here you cannot control the retention and these views might have low retention, but yet it has a positive effect on your channel and can push you into recommendations.

VEVO artists and labels often promote with such views because you can order huge quantities.

so your channel can be affected negatively if you buy low quality smm bot views which come from bot accounts that don't exhibit human like patterns or behaviors.

Low retention views and other low quality views can affect the channel, it basically means youtube will reduce the no of impressions of your future videos since it is evident that your videos aren't getting good retention. This does not mean channel is doomed, just stop sending the low quality views and rest the channel for a while and then start uploading new videos , this time make sure the thumbnails and videos are very engaging.

Note- if your buying services , always buy services from a reputed and reliable smm panel, you can find good smm panels in the marketplace that actually provide high quality views to boost your channel like organic traffic.

Question for both of you: Is it true that on a brand new account if your first few videos or so don't get many views then all your next videos won't get many views either? If so, or if someone is in this situation, how can they break out of it to where a good video they post next actually starts getting a lot of views? Or is that not possible now?

Also, how come some channels have like 500,000 subscribers but only 1,000-3,000 views per video while other channels have 100,000 and have 50,000-60,000 views per video and so on?
 
I see a lot of people jumping ship and abandoning too soon.

Just remember that generally speaking, sticking with the entire channel that has a decent amount of subs as you mentioned here is going to be more worth it than starting anew. There's a lot more work involved with that process than just recalibrating.
