Earlier today the audience score for Captain Marvel was 31% from 58,353 people

For a 5% increase, I'd say they got ripped off.

Most likely there was a purge of bot accounts, anything paid would have been a selective removal of the low scores. Case in point, the next movie on the trending list shows a similar 90% drop in ratings, and a 6% drop in score.

Any score above 10% for that movie is botted.

I wouldn't be surprised use to work at a top level amusement park in HR Dept and you would be surprised how they track down negative reviewer's and attempt to offer them incentives in 'hopes" they fix the review which most of the time they do.
