I was searching for types of backlinks that are still valuable and trustworthy. Some free backlinks like profile backlinks, directory backlinks, comment backlinks, bookmarking. Social bookmarking not working, right?

they don't have much ranking power (if that's what you're asking). But they can bring traffic in if the directory is popular

No ranking power anymore sadly

You can find profile backlinks opportunities shared here in BHW but i don't think they have any power at all,
you can use those just to diverse your backlink profile

depends on what you're trying to do

none of that is going to rank you but if used right with a good content approach, it can support some ranking on easy keywords

Somehow, it does help. I noticed a regional website ranking for a highly competitive keyword after the latest Google Core update. It has a relatively weak overall backlink profile, including links like this. The only significant advantage is that the website is quite old. It's amusing that they haven't changed the design in over a decade.

Just a Google thing...

It is absolutely needed, but it does not hold much weight. It is something that should be done, but don't expect much of a return. It is more supportive of other efforts than it is supportive of SERP.

Google and other search engines use these listings to validate authenticity. But because it is easy / cheap to do, it does not hold much weight. At one time it could be used to game Google, but we are far from those days.

Directory backlinks? Pretty old school. But here's the thing, if it's a high-quality, niche-specific directory, it might hold some value. Still, it's not the powerhouse it once was.
