Does customized wordpress theme ranks better?

Hi,

I need your advice guys, Now I'm making a new website and we are 3 partners we will spend a lot to make something really big, the question now is, does customized wordpress theme has the priority to rank over the public themes ? or it's just a design and similar for SEO ?

Ranking has nothing to with branding & custom theme.
Your theme needs to be well optimized that's what's important here.
A fast loading theme which follows google structured data, schema types something like that.
Generatepress & Neve are my favorite here.
 
Nope, has nothing to do with how unique your theme is.

But the way the theme is coded and built will have an impact on your score - specifically amount of bloat and properly formatted code (e.g., metadata and logical hierarchy of content formatting - headings, subheadings etc.).

It's interesting how in the last decade, three column sites have pretty much disappeared - with the exception of news site.
 
Directly No, indirectly yes . As said premium themes are usually better optimized and faster
 
IME yes.

Default themes have way too many SEO flaws IMO. Link structure, schema markup and worst of all speed.

Not to mention security issues. Most commercial themes load up like 200 different themes to get anything done - one ends up carrying a security bug.
 
Well, if by a custom theme you mean a theme built specifically to enhance your target audience user-experience them yes.

I encourage you (and everybody) to read the article but there is a couple of sections I found interesting...

Themes really matter and frankly, if using WordPress for example, one should use Gutenberg-based editors (otherwise known as Gutenberg blocks builders) for WordPress because they are the purest form of editor utilizing the WordPress core and will result in a ridiculously fast page speed.

Things to consider when buying a theme:

- Speed
- Meta Tags (Titles, Description fields, Open graph tags and so on).
- Rel Canonical tag.
- Schema structure.
- Social media share buttons.
- Having advertising places.
- It is important for visitor satisfaction that the design is visually beautiful.

Sorry for the bad English. That's all I can think of for now.
 
Usually I check a theme on gtmetrix and other tools when I buy them... It gives you an idea if has some best practises incorporated...
 
No, it is not affected by this. Ranking depends on SEO.
 
I would rather consider themes that are already optimized for SEO
Something like Astra or Generate press
