Now I think the answer is yes because when I 301 my site the traffic stayed the same but changing the date on my blogs from site.com/articlename/date to site.com/date/articlename gave Google errors. A few weeks back my search and media dropped almost 75%. Now I'm guessing it was the errors because I haven't built links to the site for ages and it never moved during all the updates (for years).

My question is if I fix these errors will my site come back up and if so how long would you think it will take? (also help on getting it fixed would be great, site has about 2k+ errors now).

If you change the date up you'll end up getting 404 error's because there are pages that do not exist.

Change them back to the old dates and you should be fine.

I know how to fix it but I want the date to be in the front. I've tested it and it works better SEO wise that way.

cant you just mark as fix on google web masters while doing a 301?

I have done 301s for old links to new links and have not seen any change in rankings as long as I marked them fixed.

Just so you know.

Changing link structure will hurt your rankings
