    I'm a bit surprised by the fact that everyone seems to be sticking to the $1+ niches.
    When you allow interest based advertisements in adsense, then it doesn't really matter what CPC your niche has does it?

    Isn't it more worthwhile to go for the highvolume and easy niches with lower CPC since the ads will be interest based after all?

    Niches with low cpc can still be profitable. It's just that they are not really good for adsense mns in my opinion. At a certain point, when the cpc gets low enough, other methods of monitization might become a better option. So your high volume, low cpc niche will probably still have a high competition. It's just not profitable to go after a niche where the top ten has a $xxxxxx income from other methods and you are getting peanuts from adsense. If they start losing money they will blow your site right out of the water.

    you missed my point;

    I was saying the CPC of the niche doesn't really matter, because you will show ads not related to the niche anyway when you have 'interest based ads' enabled in adsense.

    It matters quite a lot, but I wouldn't obsess on the specific CPC of a keyword. Simply pick an evergreen niche with plenty of contextual advertisement. Entertainment sites are a good example of what not to do. I don't feel like looking for the exact thread, but there's a guy selling an entertainment site with 40k or something UV's a month on BHW for only a few hundred dollars, because you know, he is not making any money with Adsense on that site. If he would, though, have 40k UV's a month on a fitness/health niche site, he would make quite a lot.
