Does cloud stacking still work or is it outdated?

Hey,
I've been learning more about different link building methods and recently came accross cloud stacking. I've seen mixed opinions with some saying it still helps and others calling it outdated.
I haven't tested myself yet, so I'm trying to understand where it fits within current SEO practice. I'm particularly interested in whether it provides any real , sustainable benefits or if it's no longer worth for efforts.
Has anyone used cloud stacking as a part of their strategy?
Would appreciate any insight or experience.

While it might show some short-term results by creating a network of interconnected links across platforms like Google Drive and Sites, Google has become increasingly good at identifying and devaluing these artificial link structures. Instead of risking potential penalties, focus your efforts on earning genuine, contextual backlinks from authoritative websites in your niche.
That approach will provide sustainable, penalty-resistant results over time.

I made cloud stacking links for my website after the RDs are above 100, I saw boost in rankings in tough niches & keywords positions gets improved. Main thing is how do you structure the cloud links, I usually use informational topics & content of 2000+ words & interlink all of the cloud properties. Getting do follow backlinks with 80+ DR improves the overall traffic as well.

I think it still has some use, but not in the same way people used it before. From what I’ve seen, cloud stacking alone isn’t enough to move rankings long term.


It can help with indexing and maybe add some initial trust signals, but the impact seems pretty limited unless it’s combined with solid content and more natural link building.


These days Google seems a lot better at filtering out patterns, so relying on it as a main strategy probably isn’t sustainable.


Personally, I’d treat it more like a small supporting tactic rather than something to depend on heavily.

What do you mean that you interlink all of them? Doesn't that leave a huge foot print? Did you run them to homepage only or mix of articles and homepage?

As per client's demand I have to interlink the properties to one another so they form a cluster & then I add a backlink of the target webiste. I didn't leave any footprint as the html & css design files are different, use different anchors for backlinks as well as using informational topics to guide the user better. I usually target the homepage for 60% & then 40% for mix of articles as per client's demand. Once they have been indexed, they have the power & authority to move rankings in upwards direction.
