does changing your theme hurt your traffic/PR

If you have an established site and then you start changing your wordpress layout will this have a negative impact on your site in the eyes of the big G?

Hmm wouldn't mind an answer from the experts... I have a decent amount of uv on one of my MNS and it's on Big G page #1 but I really want to change the layout. Don't know if it could affect anything though
 
i recently changed my theme completely and site moved 2 spots up, so not sure if it really have any negative effect. In case newly created theme loads slow then it may harm little bit but as soon as you fix it, you will get normal rankings.
 
leena did your site have a fair amount of UV's before you made the switch?
 
Change theme will not affect your traffic. But it will affect your conversion if you are trying to sell something.
 
it definitely does. It affects ur rankin=> it affects traffic too
 
I change theme from time-to-time to tweak the appearance of my sites. No affect in rankings at all and traffic keeps coming.

I think it would affect if your new layout does not met the new google webmasters policy.
 
I did it with 2 sites. For the first one it didn't change the ranking at all (but it was in 2009)

the second site lost its ranking immediately after i changed my theme. It went down from #1 to outside top 10 but after 2 months it came back to #1.
 
I was thinking about testing out a new theme on my blog that is more focused on adsense but wanted to make sure that it wouldnt effect my traffic from google
 
The main factor is conversion. Even you change it a bit of layout position or button..
