Does changing web hosting affect SEO?

The site is identical on my new web hosting, all I need to do is change the nameservers.

However, there is a few things that are different:

Speed (faster)
Location (US)

Will this be a problem? Should I just stick with my current hosting provider and not change over/refund my payment?

There is no definite way to say yes or no and it depends on if the load time is fast and other factors including server location etc so hard to say for sure but yes it would have some impact but how big impact and if it would be a positive or negative one should have to be watched. IMO, it should be minimal unless you are switching to a worse host.

Changing to a better/faster and more secured host will surely have a positive impact in your SEO. Go for it!

do one thing first, change the A records of your domain from your old hosting to your new hosting, then change the dns afterwards so your site wont be down during dns propagation and your site will remain up all the time on your new host.
It will not affect seo due to downtime.

No need to update the A Record first. If @Frenzied wants WPX to mange the domain's DNS then @Frenzied can just update the nameservers without any downtime. As long as no changes are being made to the site then @Frenzied will be fine. Just need to make sure DNS propagation takes place/that they're seeing the site resolve from the new server before making changes to the site.
