For example, if i post a video and it doesnt perform well, and then i try to change the keywords etc.

Is there any value in that?

Or is the damage already done.

in my experience, if you have a large audience yes it has an effect.. if not, you need to be lucky

Don't think it has any effect at all, I mean that's why YT made it possible to tweak videos anytime. In other words, you can tweak thumbnail, description and tittle of a video, if you think it's not performing well enough.

Exactly! In this way you got to improve your tags/title/thumbnail to gain more views and improve your YT Seo.

It will unrank your video, so if you have a good vid thats ranked driving good traffic dont mess with it.

But it's also a good way to test what does and doesnt work, if it's a new video play around with key words and tags.

IT does, if you get from 1% ctr to 5% ctr, of course it Will improve, but needs to have a quite masive change to matter. Not from 1% to 1.2%.
