Does Buying High Retention Views Actually Help?

My channel is doing pretty good on its own. (42k subs, 10k views a video)

I was thinking of buying high retention views for my videos so that they show up higher on the search list when searching my type of videos. (For example, if I do "Types of parents" video, the youtubers that did a similar video with 50k views are going to rank higher than my video with 10k)

I've read somewhere that if youtube see's that you have a lot of views from around the world, they may penalize you by throwing your video on like the 12th search page or something.

Is that true? What's your advice on this? Thanks!

My advice is to try it out yourself. It may rank you up higher, but if you're using small amounts on rare occasions I doubt they'll notice
 
youtube will not usually penalise for extra traffic, but if your video is getting more traffic from russia, the ranking algo may think your content is more suitable for russian people so it may get you higher on the russian version of youtube... and this may lead to loosing your position on the global youtube.com search results, i reccomand that you try to use country targeted HR views on one video and see the results

you know any place that offers HR views that lets you select area?
 
yes, it helps a lot. But also try to get shares,favorites likes etc
 
Buy views only with high watch time (more than your average audience retention). That's key to rank videos. Watch time + audience retention.
