Does BUM Marketing still work?

I'd like your thoughts on Bum Marketing, post Penguin/Panda and how this method can be modified to use now. Also, if possible are there article directories that allow for posting of affiliate links or redirects to affiliate sites? If so, please share resources.

It's basically similar to article marketing.

You write a nice article about a product you are promoting, and stuff it with affiliate links. You do this a good hundred times, manually, or with bots and then get the articles ranked.

Then you get clicks > conversions > sales.

Does it still work now?

I don't think so. I think there are other ways to make money which is better than this.

Why? Because you are relying too much on the articles on the article websites.

Google is Google, and knowing that, you don't know when they will release an update. Instead, of posting all the articles to article sites, you are better of creating a website with different articles on it.

BUM marketing used to be decent, but now, its too risky. A simple algorithm change could lead to your articles getting removed by an editor as such and that can cut of your main link to making money. Too risky in my opinion.

The main concept behind bum marketing still works. Think outside the box a bit and you can still make decent money doing it without spending a dime. Instead you'll be spending a lot of time. It's a decent trade off if you're new and need seed money. I may actually make a post about some of the ways this can be done, but only if it's wanted.

Bum marketing works if you use forums. You just have to be subtle and in it for the long haul, and knowledgeable enough to come off as some sort of expert in whatever niche you're in. Tell us some other working tactics please jc224.

Agreed. Instead of using articles, how about videos? or other web 2.0 sites like tumblr? instagram? Bum marketing is good for generating seed money (like jc224 said), but I would have a plan set up on what to do after I made "x" amount of dollars with bum marketing. It's not something you want to do for a long period of time because chances are you will burn out from it.

Bum Marketing works wonders, but instead of using Ezinearticles, you should use squidoo instead.

It does work but not as it used to work. Now you need to make many twists, like guys said above, using squidoo, hubpages and other web 2.0 properties. You can still grab your slice of cake from bum marketing.
