Does blogging still work?

Blogging is still effective, but it's no longer the "write and get traffic" approach it once was. Especially for travel blogs, there are still opportunities if done correctly. If you want to blog about travel, I think you need to do things differently; this field seems quite competitive. I believe combining video and SEO would be much more effective.

blogging works on many niche but not all, developing an easier content blog environment could assist in growth/ranking. Choose a topic that get no difficult to solve.

Blogging still works success comes from unique content, solid SEO, and consistency.

Yes, blogging still works, but it's more competitive than before. it takes time but consistent posting and SEO still bring results.

There are a few preferred content formats google und Bing favours for quick index and ranking (depends on niche /keyword) adn needs good EEAT signal. Out there are some few distributions who will replace the google organic traffic which will goes down, because you will not see yout article ranking in google quicker than 3-4 months- this makes organic seo useless. Many influencers now using social media for traffic to make sales or build a list, not organic seo. I wonder, you not recognize it ?

Blogging is still effective, especially in the travel niche, as long as you focus on helpful content, real experiences, and optimize for search trends on Google—it’s still a good time to start if you stay consistent and committed.

yes it’s a good time, but the travel niche is competitive so focus on a specific sub niche and unique content to grow faster.

Honestly, there is no “perfect time” but travel is one of those niches where starting now is still a good move if you do it right. The space is competitive, yeah, but most blogs are either outdated or too generic. If you focus on specific experiences, unique angles, or micro-niches (like budget travel in a region, solo travel, hidden spots, etc.), you can still break in.

Yes, it still works. Travel blogs can thrive, but you’re fighting a crowded field. Share real experiences, give practical tips, and stay consistent. It’s more about long-term effort than a quick hit.
You only have a hard fight with your niche, when it's a field who is conquered by big media newspaper sites.
What about get traffic via rss? Seth Godin built his personal brand empire with rss.

I’ve noticed that the folks who gain traction fast are the ones who lean into their quirks instead of trying to sound like a guidebook. Even little things like adding behind-the-scenes bits or quick takeaways from mistakes on the road make people stick around. Pair that with solid SEO and you’ve got a shot, even if social media is stealing some of the spotlight these days.

I’d focus on carving out a angle that feels like your own, even if it’s something small. I’ve noticed readers stick around more for personality than picture-perfect guides. Posting on a steady rhythm helps too, and social platforms can give you a nice bump if you share little behind-the-scenes bits. Affiliates can work, but they move slower than people expect, so patience pays off.
