I have a Blogger blog with a custom domain but no hosting atm. Am I putting my website at risk sending paid traffic to it?

Always a possibility, as long as you have back-ups you should be fine. You own the domain, so it really wouldn't affect you as bad as it could otherwise. Real traffic will still know where your site is, at most a minor inconvenience

If you have a plan to monetize the traffic for a positive ROI, paid traffic works well.
